Creeping Replica (2020) is a process-based work that explores the temperament of wood glue. In late 2018, I began laying discarded and erroneous pieces of glue through-out my studio. What interested me was the imitative nature of the material and its ability to adapt and shroud the surface beneath it. The pieces would remain on various stools, tables and desks for extended periods of time. Due to the engineered characteristics of the wood glue, the material would harden and soften periodically, resulting in strange and thought-provoking structures. I filmed the same piece over the course of several days whereby each time, it yielded a new form.
