Fascia (2019-2020)

Wood glue installation

Dimension varies

Fascia (2019) is an experimental body of work that analyses the aesthetic and structural outcomes of varying weight. Influenced by Felix Gonzalez-Torres’s Untitled (Portrait of Ross in L.A.), I measured out varying amounts of wood glue into multiple Lego shaped molds. The aim was to explore how the substance was affected by its own volume and depletion of moisture in various spaces it was placed. The material process seen here is a responsive enactment; the glue has the capacity to embody its environmental surroundings resulting in something peculiar, whilst simultaneously preserving its shape and remaining a universal symbol.
